You run back to the shore where you saw the Gummys cross. They're not there, but their prints lead into the Gummy Mountains, so you follow them. The icing grass is slick off the path, and you slide quite a bit following the tracks. Soon, the grass becomes hardened chocolate brick, which is far easier to walk on, and you make much better time tracking them. You're studying the markings in the chocolate, trying to figure out their route, when you hear a low growl from your left, and then a thump, and then... darkness.
Your sleep is chocolate scented, and you feel like you're floating in a huge cup of hot cocoa, the marshmallow topping a warming nest. You breathe deeply of the dark, rich scent, and stretch through the cloud-like cocoon. You open your eyes, and stare lovingly into the faces of an entire den of gummy bears. The dream dissipates, and you remember your rage and the task at hand.
"What are you doing here?" The large Orange one growls.
"I'm here to help," you say.
"How can we trust you?" says an even larger Purple gummy, emerging from deep in the cave.
"I have this," you reveal the guard's ray gun, and extend it, butt first, to the Purple. "I think it will help your cause."
He grins a wide smile, revealing large, pointed teeth that don't look gummy in the slightest. "You're in." He says, and he laughs gutturally, the noise echoing on the walls of the chocolate cave. "Bring the plans!" He shouts to the darkness, and suddenly, a sheet of fondant is rolled out in front of you, the candy castle, the forests, the mountain range. It's a glorious monument to gluttony, and you feel as though you could roam the land forever. You snap back to reality when Orange slams the ray gun down on the fondant, denting the puffy marshmallow page.
"He'll never see us coming." The bears grin and growl in approval. "It's all on you," he says, giving you a large rainbow-wrapped flare. "We'll wait for your signal over the left tower. When the trap is lit, fire this, and then run like hell for the Gummy Mountains. If they're tracking you, it'll lead them in a full circle around the castle. We'll have a lookout, so don't lallygag." The bears all titter at the mild candy pun, and you wonder if they have an open mic night. "You'll have to run back through some of the most tempting land we have to offer. Be steady, be strong, and be fast. Good luck to you."
You move to the entrance of the cave and shake the gummy paw offered. The brigade of warrior bears, gummy though they are, look fierce in the afternoon sun, but you know deep down, they are all made of sugar and there is at least a good chance that they'd all be liquid by midnight.
